HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This is a natural place to "take a break" and share some personal pics from the last year. as my wife Lisa and I traveled to Canada to see my daughter Katie and her husband Nathan. Then to Boston to visit my daughter Anna, her husband Ryan, and of course Carson... My very smart, good looking, and kind grandson!

For a long time, I have "swore off" new years resolutions as something to simply poke fun at. However, it is not that I don't have a desire to improve things about and in my life, to the extent I can control life anyway...So, I have been and will continue to strive to apply this quote in the new year from respected educator and author Booker T. Washington (1856-1915)

"The happiest people are those who do the most for others.
The most miserable are those who do the least."

REAL ESTATE UPDATE

There is a lot to talk about in the market today,
especially as we look back at 2023 and forward to 2024.

What happened in the market in 2023:

* Mortgage interest rates where very high,
and peaked at 7.75%. The highest in over 20 years.

* There was less homes to purchase
with new listings down 20%. (Year over year)

*The average seller in the MSP
"still" saw appreciation on their home sale of 3%.

* Homes were "still" selling rapidly,
in MSP average only 37 days on the market.

2024 will have a lot of the same general conditions, with one major exception. Mortgage interest rates have been trending down, about a full percent in the last 7 weeks, which will help some buyers get off the sidelines with increased buying power.
